In exploring the mixed media of painted and embossed copper over the past several years, i have developed a love affair with the non-square canvas. A painting that is also a sculptural artwork - in which the shape and the design are inextricable. Most recently, I have been creating the work for specific sites and location within interior locations - perhaps unconventional, weird or surprising, these new (what i call doodles) "grow" from ceiling corners, door and window frames, and other hard edges.
Every time i walk past these it gives me a little thrill of delight while also reminding me of the internet meme/quote of "get the weird art".
And adding the additional challenge of designing the the specific location.
